3 Ways to standout as a food creator on instagram

Every few months, instagram rolls out new opportunities to stand out. Things like holiday stickers, adding notes to posts, and so much more.

As a creator, testing these sorts of whimsical engagements is a great way to standout to followers. They’re fun and easy to try.

Let’s walk through a few instagram features that can help your account stand out.

Here’s an example of a fun little note from Lexi that makes her post stand out when scrolling the feed.

1. Adding ‘notes’ on your post

The ‘notes feature’ is a fun way to kind of add a sticky note to your instagram post or reel. You can see the example here from Lexi.

The cool thing is that as your followers scroll their feed, a post with a note on it has some special animations, which really help stop the scroll and bring more attention to your posts.

The other secret hack about notes is that your followers get notifications that you added a note to your post.

Here’s the notification I received when Lexi added the note to her post.

Adding a note to your post will notify your followers and drive more awareness of your new post.

Give it a try.

Creators with notes show up first for all followers when they open their messages tab.

2. Adding notes inside the messaging tab

Piggy backing on notes, instagram now also lets you add a note inside the messages tab. You might think, ‘why do I need to add this - feels very 1990s AOL instant messenger vibes.”

The reality is that anytime your followers open their messages tab, creators they follow that have a note up, will load front and center.

Another easy, fun way to get in front of your audience.

3. Going live!

Example of a push notification followers receive when you start an instagram live.

We’ve talked at length about the power of going live on instagram. There’s nothing like engaging live with followers. But one thing we haven’t shared is how the act of going live actually notifies all your followers.

If you start a live broadcast, two amazing things happen.

And when followers open the instagram app, the creator who is broadcasting live shows up first in stories.

  1. Your followers get a push notification from instagram, that your are going live.

  2. Your live broadcast gets the first position for followers who open instagram while you’re live.

So if you’ve been thinking about a weekly live, let this serve as your motivation to kick it off!
